Understanding GLP 1 Treatments

What is a GLP 1?

GLP 1 is a natural hormone your body releases after eating. It helps control appetite, sends signals of fullness to your brain, slows digestion, and improves blood sugar response.

How do GLP 1 treatments work?

GLP 1 treatments reduce appetite, calm food noise, slow stomach emptying, and stabilise blood sugar so you feel full longer and eat less.

What is the difference between Semaglutide, Tirzepatide, and Retatrutide?

Semaglutide targets GLP 1 only. Tirzepatide targets GLP 1 and GIP for stronger metabolic support. Retatrutide targets GLP 1, GIP, and glucagon for the strongest metabolic and body composition effects. You can also read more about these on our Starter's Guide.

Which GLP 1 is best for me?

Take our Find Your Antidote quiz to see which treatment suits your lifestyle best. Always confirm with your doctor before starting treatment.

Do GLP 1 treatments help with PCOS or insulin resistance?

GLP 1 support may improve insulin sensitivity and help reduce inflammation. Your doctor will guide you based on your medical profile.

Are GLP 1 treatments safe?

GLP 1 treatments are widely used. Safety depends on your medical history and other treatments you may be using. Consult your healthcare provider.

Dosing, Usage, and Administration

How often do I inject a GLP1?

Once per week on the same day each week.

How long will one pen last me?

It depends on the pen concentration and your weekly dose. Some last 4 to 8 weeks, others longer.

What dose should I start on?

See our dosage guides. We aim for the lowest possible dose for as long as possible. Step by step guidance will be provided. Always follow your doctor’s instructions.

Where should I inject the treatment?

Inject under the skin in the stomach, upper thigh, or upper arm. Never inject into a vein or muscle. Rotate injection sites.

What is the best time of day to inject?

Anytime is fine. Choose a time you can remember and consistenly do.

What if I forget a dose?

If within 5 days, inject when remembered. If more than 5 days, wait for your next scheduled dose. Never double dose.

How do I store my GLP 1 treatment?

Store in a refrigerator between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius. Do not freeze. Protect from sunlight.

Side Effects, Symptoms, and Body Reactions

What does food noise mean?

Food noise means constant thoughts about food or cravings. GLP 1 treatments help to quiet this noise.

Will I feel nauseous?

Some people experience nausea, bloating, or stomach discomfort. It usually improves with time.

I feel tired when taking a GLP 1. Is this normal?

Yes. Fatigue is common if you are not eating enough nutrients. Treatments reduce appetite. Remember food is fuel.

What are the signs of low blood sugar?

Sweating, dizziness, shakiness, weakness, or confusion. Seek help if this occurs.

What if I experience inflammation or hormonal symptoms?

Semaglutide supports inflammation the most. Tirzepatide offers moderate support. Retatrutide focuses on metabolism.

Lifestyle, Results, and Expectations

How fast will I see results?

Results vary. Most people see gradual changes over weeks. Lifestyle, dose, and consistency matter.

Will I gain weight back after stopping?

It is possible. Appetite may return. Strong habits help maintain results. Focus on lifestyle improvements rather than just a quikc fix to stop hunger.

Do I need a special diet?

No specific diet, but focus on balanced meals, protein, and hydration.

Can I drink alcohol while using a GLP 1?

You can, but alcohol may worsen nausea or stomach discomfort. It also slows down progress.

Can I combine GLP 1 treatments with supplements?

Yes. Most supplements are fine. Speak to your doctor if you take thyroid treatments, stimulants, or anti inflammatories.

How long do I need to stay on treatment?

This differs from person to person. Some use short term, others long term. Consult your doctor.

Stopping or Adjusting Your Treatment

Can I stop using the treatment suddenly?

Yes. There are three approaches: 1. Gradually decrease your dose. 2. Stop cold turkey but expect increased appetite. 3. Stay on a long term low dose for appetite support. Always speak to your doctor.

What happens if I reduce my dose?

Appetite may return in stages. Work with your support structure to manage this.

Is it safe to stay on a long term low dose?

Many people do this successfully. Your doctor will advise based on your profile.

Eligibility and Safety Considerations

Can men and women both use GLP 1 treatments?

Yes. GLP 1 treatments are suitable for adults who meet the criteria.

Are GLP 1 treatments suitable for people under 18?

No. These treatments are not recommended for people under 18.

Can I use a GLP 1 if I have diabetes?

GLP 1 treatments are originally designed for type 2 diabetes. Never replace insulin with GLP 1. Consult your doctor.
